I used to hang out in his shop as a kid and sit in his race cars. His blue and white #7 cars raced at the Eldon half-mile every Saturday night. Velven was an awesome guy and a great mechanic!

Hi Cindy, Thanks for sharing your memories of racing out your way. I’ve never heard of anyone named Velven. Yes, Eldon was a long time ago. It’s been nearly 50 years since I went there for my one and only visit. Sunset was a great track. All the best, Randy

That was the first time I had ever been to a car race! Have seen lots more since then, mostly Sunset in Omaha Ne
Where I always rooted for the 8-Ball, Glenn Robey!
