Hi Dale,

It's hard to say for sure. The "modified" class was begun in Iowa in 1979. At the time the editor of the Hawkeye Racing News trade paper was concerned about the increasing costs of late model racing. He came up with the idea for the modified as a low cost alternative with a $300 claim on the motor. Of course that claiming price is long gone but the modified is the most popular class of short track racer in the entire country. The south seems tied to late model racing. Sprint car racing has never been all that big in most places in the south compared to the midwest and east and to many places in California. It is interesting to see the variations by region within the U.S. Randy

Updated website working well in GA and today in NOVA (hipster name for northern Virginia near DC).

Very impressive crowds in recent oval track reports.

I wonder why the open wheel modifieds are so popular everywhere except GA?

Hope you and Carol are staying warm and dry.
