Classic Remise – Dusseldorf
Greetings from Dusseldorf, Germany
From the travels and adventures of the
“World’s #1 Trackchaser”
My hobby of trackchasing takes me all over the world. Normally I’m seeing auto racing of one sort or another at one place or another. However, when there’s a break in the action I’m looking for that next “Trackchasing Tourist Attraction” (TTA). What fun would it be if I traveled the thousands of miles I do ONLY to see one more racetrack? TTAs can be just about anything that would be fun to see, visit and/or experience. My website even has a special section devoted entirely to my Trackchasing Tourist Attractions. Have you seen it? Click on the link below to get an idea of where trackchasing has taken me. Trackchasing Tourist AttractionsDon't miss these places! I highly recommend this attraction. Please don’t miss the nearly 200 photos of the cars I saw during my visit. This was a FUN place to hang out for a few hours and there is no admission charge to boot! I came across the Classic Remise location during my 26th trip to Europe for the main purpose of trackchasing. I would be having an off-day somewhat near Dusseldorf, Germany. I figured there must be something fun to do in Dusseldorf. There was! According to the folks who frequent TripAdvisor.com the Classic Remise auto museum etc. was the #1 attraction in all of Dusseldorf. That was good enough for me! Here are a couple of comments from TripAdvisor that sold me. “If you are a motorsport fan, this is a piece of heaven on Earth that you cannot miss! A huge range of classic cars and bike combined with recent sport cars offer you, free of charge, an amazing experience and will get your attention for a couple of hours!” “Ok so I’m a girl and with the best will in the world the only thing I know about cars is that they need taxing, petrol and that black is my favourite colour !!! But omg, what a fab place, and it’s free !! Got the tram from the station to Provinzialplatz, then first left and a 10/15 min stroll through a residential area, the place itself is unmissable. We went into the station and bought an all day pass for two people 9.50e, unlimited journeys on public transport in zone a, which Classic Remise falls into…the cars are beautiful, there are lots for sale and you can watch cars being worked on. You are free to walk around, take pics, there’s a cafe/bar too. We were there for about 2hrs and spent most of the time wishing we could win the lottery….mines the metallic green Austin Healy by the way.” 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS Targa This information comes from both Wikipedia and the Classic Remise website. Classic Remise can be best described as a working museum as the large semi-circle building combines numerous independent workshops renovating cars with more than 100 classic cars on show to view close up. These cars are either for sale or stored and maintained on behalf of their owners. If you are lucky you may see, as we did, one or two of the old sports cars being fired up and driven out of the garage. There are lots of old and new Ferarris, Porsches, Rolls, Jaguars etc,, many of which are very rare and worth hundreds of thousands. Welcome to Classic Remise* Düsseldorf The Classic Remise Düsseldorf, a center for vintage cars, can be found in a historic roundhouse for locomotives. There are garages, services and dealers for classic cars, shops for spare parts, clothing, model cars, accessories and restaurants in this landmark building. Old industrial architecture in combination with a presentation of historic and classic vehicles will guarantee a unique automotive experience in the second classic car center of this kind worldwide the first being the Classic Remise Berlin. The Classic Remise Düsseldorf was opened in 2006 under a different name. After that brand has been acquired in 2010 by the Meilenwerk AG from a former owner, the name of the center was changed into Classic Remise Düsseldorf. Opening hours: At the Classic Remise Düsseldorf you can find the following: Car and Motorcycle Workshops Our workshops form the core of the Classic Remise Düsseldorf. Specialists, skilled in servicing classic models can refurbish your car or motorcycle to an exacting standard that you can specify. Services include motor and mechanical work, bodywork and repainting, as well as custom upholstery and interior work. To complement to the workshops, related businesses are located nearby. These include car cleaning and waxing services, professional estimators, automotive electricians, and other services such as insurance or classic car rentals for special purposes. A selection of retail shops also provide for class car and motorcycle enthusiasts. Among articles offered are model cars, high-end clothing, books and magazines as well as spare parts and accessories. Classic Cars – Sales and Showrooms The Classic Remise Düsseldorf provides a spacious showroom for dealers to display classic cars that are for sale. The building itself, a fully renovated locomotive roundhouse, breathes a museum-like quality atmosphere where the classic cars can be viewed daily in a climate-controlled and architecturally interesting environment. Owners of classic cars can rent one of the 75 completely glassed-in individual garages where they can park their cars. The garages are locked and integrated into the main building. Thus, in addition to being out of the weather, the cars can be seen and enjoyed by visitors. Bistro and Beer Garden “Hebmueller” From an indoor bistro for snacks and small meals one has a view onto the showroom floor. In summer, a beer garden is open for outdoor enjoyment. This combination of classic cars, an architectural highlight and a comfortable place to meet and eat with friends ensures a memorable experience. Many clubs of owners of vintage vehicles use this as their regular place to meet. Please wait for photos to load.
There is also a separate room containing motor bikes, a car related clothes shop, a photo gallery and an excellent cafe.We spent a very enjoyable 2 hours and all for FREE!
