From the travels and adventures of the “World’s #1 Trackchaser”
All-Time Favorite Alabama Track: Talladega Superspeedway Best Memories: I was there the day, in 1993, when Neil Bonnet crashed and took out much of the fencing separating the fans from the track along the front straight. It took them a long time to get that fixed! The Barber Motorsports Park is the prettiest and most upscale track I have ever seen. I was at the Fairgrounds Raceway in Birmingham the Saturday night after Davey Allison was killed in a helicopter crash at Talladega. His sisters and uncle Donnie were there to memorialize Davey. I was also at Talladega on the Sunday following Davey’s death when the #28 Havoline Ford took a slow lap around the track. This was one of the most solemn moments I can ever remember at a racetrack. I saw Red Farmer race at the Moulton Raceway. I did an at the track interview with the announcer at the Sunny South Raceway and returned to the stands to find trackchaser Ed Esser chatting up wife Carol! The female track announcer at the Super Eight Speedway sounded 100% like Dolly Parton. If you see a track link in the above list simply click on it to be transferred to my Trackchaser Report. Here you will be able to read about my adventure at this particular track. Not only will you learn about my time at the track but you’ll hear about all of the interesting people, places and things I encountered during the entire trip, coming and going, to that speedway. Most of my Trackchaser Reports will also include a photo album and YouTube video. Check it all out. Don’t be afraid to use the “search” box in the upper right corner of my website’s home page. Just type in the track name or whatever and you’ll be directed to the place you want to be. Below is a key to surface types and track configurations so you can understand the above list just a little bit easier. Surface types: D-dirt; P-paved; M-mixed Configuration types: O-oval; RC-road course; F8-figure 8 track
