Autodrome Rive Sud – Lifetime track #206
*
My first track to see in Quebec, Canada.
My stepfather Bill and I came to Quebec for the first time ever back on July 11, 1992. The Autodrome Rive Sud track was a rural one. However, it will always be special for one important reason.
This was the first track that either Bill or I had ever been where the P.A. announcer spoke the entire night in a foreign language to us….French. Can you imagine what it must have been like back in 1992 for a couple of fellas who grew up in central Illinois to hear 100% French for an entire night of racing. We didn’t know which class we were watching or what type of race it was. Nevertheless we were impressed! It was experiences like this that got me started on my international trackchasing interest. Through the end of the 2014 season I have seen racing in 70 different countries.
My research tells me this track ran from 1987-1993. On the night we were there R.J. Thomas in #78 won a main event. My one and only note regarding our track visit was “Public address in French only”.
Special thanks to the folks at “360 Nitro” for the use of these photos about the track:
Do you have any experience with auto racing at the Autodrome Rive Sud?
