Greetings from Granby, Quebec, Canada

Autodrome Granby – Lifetime track #208
*
My third track to see in Quebec, Canada.
My stepfather Bill and I visited the Autodrome Granby on Monday, July 13, 1992. The track was my 208th lifetime track to see. We were up in Canada to see the famous D.I.R.T. modifieds compete. To this day those mods are one of my favorite classes to watch. There are not many groups where a driver can start mid-pack or even further back in the field and win. I have often wondered how a D.I.R.T. modified driver can pass 10-20 cars but a winged sprint car can hardly pass any.
This was part of a three-track trip into Quebec, my first ever. Earlier in the adventure we saw racing at the Autodrome Rive Sud and the Sanair Super Speedway. Tonight Doug Hoffman in the #1 would win the main event.
I didn’t begin writing my world-renowned Trackchaser Reports until about track #430. Therefore, I have very little in the way of notes or memories from this track. I do know the night before our first race in Quebec we saw Steve Boley win the main at the Farley Speedway in Iowa. For the life of me I can’t remember the trip from Iowa to Quebec to see racing the very next night.
My notes tell me we dined on “Poutines! Fries/mozzarella cheese and BBQ sauce”. This was likely my second ever poutine experience following the first back in 1988 at Nelles Corners in Ontario! I’ve eaten this Canadian delicacy just about every time I have returned to Canada!
Do you have any experience with auto racing at the Autodrome Granby?
By the way you might have remembrances about this track. If so, please feel free to share them in the comments section below. If you have any photos from back in the day, send them to me at Ranlay@yahoo.com. I’ll try to include them here.
