Devil’s Bowl Speedway – Mesquite

Best Memories:

The 85 Speedway in Ennis was my 1,600th-lifetime track to see. The 105 Speedway in Cleveland offered 59 sno-cone flavors! We took our grandkids, Mitch and Astrid, to the Battleground Speedway (above) in Highlands for a 300-lap enduro with more than 100 very competitive cars. That was a dusty but fun affair!

The CC Speedway in Corpus Christi was an old-line asphalt short track with the roughest surface I’ve ever seen. The Circuit of the Americas road course is one of the most upscale RC facilities I’ve seen. I’ve been down there a couple of times, once with grandson Mitch (above).

The Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite is my all-time favorite track in Texas. I’ve been down there ten times mainly to see some of the very best World of Outlaws sprint car racing from way back in the day. I’ve seen names like Steve Kinser, Time Green, Sammy Swindell, Bobby Davis Jr. and Doug Wolfgang win there. I’ve even had to be towed in the Devil’s Bowl Speedway parking lot!

I’ve seen the homemade caged karts race at the I-35 Kartway (above). I’ve seen a lot of good caged kart racing at places like the Kam Raceway and Winnsboro Speedway. Some five of those events have been indoors. The Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore was one of the best short tracks I’ve seen.

The Mud Creek Off-Road Park in Jacksonville featured UTVs racing in 6-18” of water at a price tag of $75! I really didn’t like the Reliant Park Complex (above) in Houston street course race. Yes, I hate street course racing! I’ve seen EIGHT countable tracks at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth!
